Hello Snow!!

The students have been enjoying this early taste of winter! With snow now upon us, please ensure your child has extra mittens and socks in their backpacks as they often get soaked.

This week in math we've been describing and creating repeating patterns with at least two changing attributes (shape, colour, size, position, direction). Ask your child to create one for you! Next week, we will focus on growing patterns using T-charts to describe how each term of the pattern grows. We will also be solving problems that involve extending patterns.

In language, students finished writing some very touching letters to the soldiers in Afghanistan. Our reading workshop continues with a focus on making inferences as we read. In our home reading program, many students have "read their way" across the first couple of provinces in Canada. We're off to a great start! Keep reading!

In social studies, we continue to learn about Ontario. Students will be inquiring about the climate, wildlife, plants, cities and towns within the three different landform regions of Ontario; the Canadian Shield, the Great Lakes/St.Lawrence Lowlands, and the Hudson Bay Lowlands.

In the Arts, we will begin preparing for our Holiday Concert which will take place on December 16th! More details regarding time and costumes will be provided as the date approaches.

Our class is in need of board games! If you have any gently used games that would be appropriate for grade 3, we would greatly appreciate your donation! Thanks in advance!

As always, please contact me at the school with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Hale
